Cucumber
The Cucumber is the fruit of an annual herbaceous plant (Cucumis sativus), of the family of cucurbitaceae. The plant has large green leaves forming a canopy over the fruits, which grow from lateral shoots in the axils of the latter. It produces tendrils, so it can be trained along a trellis or left to grow on the ground in a creeping manner. The thick, thorny stems are divided into nodes from which a tendril and a leaf emerge.
Its fruit, the cucumber, is a vegetable with a more or less dark green or even yellowish skin, depending on the variety, with a cylindrical and elongated shape of about 30 cm. The interior is a white and watery pulp with small flattened seeds distributed along the body of the fruit.
Nutritionally, it is low in fat, cholesterol and sodium. It is a very good source of vitamin C and vitamin K. It is a good source of fiber, thiamin, vitamin B6, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper and manganese. (Source: Nutritiondata)
